Resumen
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has burst into our lives. Various creative and institutional voices have tried to slow down its spread to test threats and safeguard the rights of users and non-users. Institutions and governments demand rapid research to detect its problems, to mitigate them, and its potential, to stimulate it. In this sense, its problems and potential in teaching and learning, at all levels and stages, are addressed. This article focuses on research on its use in the teaching and learning of English as a second language (L2), that is, as a didactic resource. For this purpose, it presents a systematic review of scientific articles on experiences that demand a didactic transformation for the incorporation of AI to contribute to the improvement of educational quality. It focuses on the search, review and analysis of studies in bibliographic databases, as well as in digital libraries. Twelve relevant researches were selected for the objective, which promote the implementation of AI to favor new scenarios of English L2 learning. All of them conclude about its benefits in the development of English competencies and proficiency, following the required changes, in different contexts, years. Much remains to be researched and implemented.
