N2 - Burnout is the state of emotional vulnerability or professional exhaustion of people who perform work functions related to human services, who have to be in constant contact with users, therefore, it is essential to understand how it affects the work environment and the interpersonal relationships of the collaborators. The purpose of the research is to determine the relationship between the Burnout Syndrome and the work environment of the employees of the Provincial Municipality of Sullana-Peru. The methodology was based on a quantitative approach and a non-experimental transactional design called correlational. A sample of 70 collaborators from the different departments that comprise the Social Development area was used, through an equal distribution of men and women. For the evaluation of the Burnout Syndrome variable, the Maslach Burnout Questionnaire, MBI-Ed, was applied in its Spanish version, as well as the questionnaire for the ATARG work environment variable. The results indicate that there is an inverse correlation between Burnout Syndrome and work environment, and its first two dimensions, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. It is concluded that as long as there is a congested and little participatory work environment, the Burnout syndrome will increase.
